Kelp forests are one of the most diverse marine ecosystems. Occurring mainly in temperate waters, kelp are the fastest growing algae, some reaching up to 13 meters high. Under their canopy and in their hold fasts, many animals roam and find shelter, such as fish (white steenbras and galjoen pictured here) lobsters, sea urchins and a plethora of bottom dwelling organisms.
